Dr. Herrick is a dedicated Family Medicine physician at the South Waterfront clinic at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where he provides comprehensive care, helping patients navigate a variety of health issues within the context of their families and communities. With over 20 years of experience practicing medicine in Africa, he has developed expertise in tropical diseases and illness prevention. Dr. Herrick is board-certified in Family Medicine and holds certification in Tropical Medicine from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Health, having studied Tropical Medicine in Paris, Marseille, and West Virginia.

Dr. Herrick earned his M.D. from Northwestern University Medical School in 1983 and his M.S. from The Ohio State University in 1987. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, in 1986, followed by a fellowship in Academic Family Medicine at The Ohio State University in 1987. His clinical focus includes Family Medicine and Travel Medicine, combining his broad medical knowledge with his international expertise.

Beyond his medical career, Dr. Herrick is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys biking, hiking, and jogging. He is also passionate about food, sports, and exploring faith issues, often involving his wife and two sons in these activities. Additionally, he loves reading, writing, and expressing his creative side through music, both as a listener and performer. Dr. Herrick’s well-rounded interests and dedication to holistic care make him a valued member of the OHSU team and a trusted provider for his patients.
