Dr. Azubike C. Ndukwe 

Dr. Azubike C. Ndukwe is a distinguished medical doctor and administrator with over 38 years of extensive experience in healthcare management, particularly in high-level government roles. From 1986 to 2007, he served as the personal physician to all Nigerian Vice Presidents and Chiefs of General Staff. During this period, he was also the Chief Physician to the Vice President and, occasionally, to the President. In this capacity, Dr. Ndukwe was responsible for managing the State House Clinic, overseeing the administration and operation of the clinic, including the management of doctors, nurses, pharmaceutical staff, and other administrative personnel.

Prior to his tenure at the State House, Dr. Ndukwe worked as the Chief Medical Officer at Nigeria Airways from 1978 to 1983, further showcasing his expertise in both medical practice and administration.

Dr. Ndukwe’s academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Occupational Medicine from the University of London (1985), a course certificate in British Medical Practice from the University of Exeter (1984), and a certificate in Aviation Safety Programme Management from the University of Southern California (1982). He also earned his MBBCh from the University of Nigeria, Enugu (2000), and has completed additional studies and certifications, including a certificate in Aviation Accident Investigation and a thesis on the effect of exercises on individuals participating in supervised fitness programs in London.

Dr. Ndukwe’s contributions to healthcare have been widely recognized, with honors including being named a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (MFR) in 2008 and receiving the ICOBA Merit Award in 2006 for his services to the nation. He also serves as a Board Member of the Federal Medical Centre in Edo State (Oribhor Okhae Teaching Hospital).

Throughout his career, Dr. Ndukwe has been deeply involved in public health initiatives, organizing a WHO-sponsored immunization clinic and establishing a HIV clinic at the State House in Abuja. His work in medical conferences has included roles as a guest speaker and chairperson, further cementing his status as a respected authority in the medical field.
